Druen could feel the ripple of amusement course up through his fingertips, making him grin. He really should have put himself forward for this sooner. It was uncanny, the mind here seemed to simply want to chat. It seemed very, equal, to him, if that could be believed. Just curious, chit chatty, almost as if he had sat down with a mug of klah in the dining area to talk to a friend. How are you? How are the animals? That kinda thing. He felt the question, responding swiftly to this one. "Rearing animals may not be a noble profession, but it is an important one and I take pride in it. Everyone needs to eat, everyone needs a companion healed and well bred runners are worth their weight in marks." He said, the fondness that he had for his profession echoing in his tones. He couldn't imagine them not being a part of his life, however he could also see himself shifting from Beastcrafter to handler. Hopefully he could find a Wher that would tolerate his fondness for the fluffies of the world. At the gentle nudge, he smiled. "Thank you." He said quietly, standing and moving on to the curiously shaped gula egg.
Druen found the excited nature of this egg highly amusing. He smiled, feeling the rummaging in his mind and realising that his profession seemed to match fairly well with this eggs wants. Food. It was strong, but met just as strongly with a friendly nature. He was going to question it, to ask it more, when alarm jerked its way from the egg to Druen causing him to gasp. He pulled his hand away, looking about the sands. Something just wasn't right.
There was a tug, but it wasn't from the Gula egg. He placed a swift hand upon the shell once more, assuring it he would return later and assuring it he would help the troubled mind that reached to him if he could.
Wasting no time, he searched the sands for the mind that was tugging at him. So hot? down here? He looked to the grains of sand and it was easy to spot the mound where Zalmask had buried yet another egg. As the woman had done, he set to work, digging carefully through the sand to try and reach the egg that had been buried a while ago. Time was of the essence with these, so Druen worked with purpose and efficiency, moving the sand carefully so as not to break the egg, but moving it with a pace that would hopefully mean he could reach the egg in time.

Relief would flood through Druen as sand cleared away from the egg underneath, revealing the sad and crumpled figure that Zalmask had thought dead. Holy... how was it even alive!? It was small beyond belief, not even able to hold a Green wherlet of normal size, but the mind inside was alive. Barely, but it was. The small, feeble mind thanked Druen quietly, as it was revealed.
Dips and bumps covered the frame of the egg, the color revealed to be pure white... except on the bumps and dips. Where the eggshell gives way to a small dent in the egg, it faded to a bloody red, trickles of smaller red trailing down the egg to pool at the base, as if the unfortunate thing was bleeding. The bumps ranged in color, from an angry red to a dark purple to a diseased green. The tiny egg looked as if it'd been beaten, and judging by the frightened mind within it felt the same. The egg shell was unnaturally thin, and if one looked closely they could see the shadow of the fetus inside the egg. Something seemed... wrong with the shadow. As if something was missing. But what?
The baby soon got over it's fear of this new world, glad to be cooling off. The beaten and bloody egg... seemed broken and forsaken, but it was slowly shaking off the feeling of being cursed. It reached out with excitement to Druen, revealing that the mind inside was not intelligent. There was something very wrong with this Wherlet... but it was so HAPPY. As if everything was perfect, wonderful. Broken little Eve chattered excitedly, asking Druen what the outside world was like. It wanted to meet it's savior!
It was doubtful it'd live to hatching.
But... the garden of Eden was not complete without Eve.

Druen worked away at the sand, moving handfuls aside and digging ever deeper. Finally, his hands brushed against something different. It didn't feel like the other eggs, but it was definitely not sand. Carefully, Druen excavated the egg carefully, eyes widening at the pitiful sight. It wasn't dented in places, bulging in others and was so thin Druen feared it would break in his hands. He'd seen many things in his time, but this chilled him slightly. Yet, as he studied the shell, ascertained it wasn't bleeding, the mind inside grew stronger.
There was a joy there, the wher was so pleased. It was surely a Green, there could be nothing smaller so, perhaps a Green. Yet as he studied the shell it was clear that not everything about the Wher was ok. No normal Wher could develop in an egg this small surely? Every one recorded like this had been a dud, yet here a mind was, screaming joyfully at him. It was encouraging, if a little mystifying.
He could feel questions slowly brimming, lots of chatter, and curiosity pushed at him. He smiled, cradling the egg carefully and placing it upon the sands. "Well now little one, this place is very interesting. It's unlike anywhere else on Pern, I think you'll have a lot of fun discovering everything." He said cheerfully, trying to ignore the initial shock he had felt. He could deal with this feelings later. "There are people, the sea and many creatures who all live here together." He informed the egg, waving to Z across the sands. He didn't want to alarm the egg, so he said nothing, but he flicked a concerned gaze to Z, then to the egg and back again, silently questioning the handler whether the egg was truly ok.

Bellatrix paused as the Averitia egg suddenly withdrew from her, unconsciously pressing her hand a little harder on the shell as if that would bring the hatchling back to her, getting a brief flash of - what was it, fear? - directed at the Superbia, or her memory of it anyway. Odd. It was scared of her because of the queen egg? But then it slid back up to her - if an egg could slide - feline like as a feeling of need pressed her. "Oh, so now you want something?" she chuckled, withdrawing her hand equally as coyly as the hatchling had 'approached' her. "I don't think so."
Touching Ira Bella got an intense feeling of displeasure, bordering on hate, as the hatchling inside seemed to lash out at her and then... stopped, the hate replaced by surprise and glee and yet another impression of the Superbia egg. Bella almost sighed in exasperation. What was it about the queen egg that had all these others hiding away from her? She was here to say hello to them, damnit, and they'd better behave properly! But unlike the previous egg Ira did not shy away from her because of it, but instead seemed to come closer, surrounding Bella with a feeling of cloying friendliness. But Bella wasn't stupid. This egg was smart, that it seemed all to eager to show her, and she could sense that it wasn't above manipulation any more than the queen egg, probably willing to use her connection with it for its own good. Or maybe not. It was just an egg after all.
Just an egg?
It eagerly sifted through her memories again as Bella in turn tried to see further into the dragonet, through its excitement, was surprised when she encountered what felt like an entirely different egg, a very sad one at that. Not again, she thought, expecting there to be another egg on need of digging up, but then the feeling was quickly quashed by the overbearing presence that made up the bulk of the egg.
"Whoa hold on there! What is it? What are you hiding?" she asked the egg indignantly. She wanted to see this other egg, if that was what it was. If not then she wanted to see what it was, Ira be damned!
(( OOC: She's still with Ira btw ))

~Ira and Bella~
Irritation flashes from Ira, before the feeling of sadness rises. Rather, it was pleading now. It was coming from the egg, but not from the angry entity. Twins. This egg, this little egg, contained twins! However, the angry twin lashed out at the sad one, suppressing the sad twin and forcing it down. It seems angry with Bella, despite the fact the angry mind seems to actually like her. Don't worry about the sad one, it doesn't matter. All that matters is IRA.
Z took notice of the waving, not seeing the small egg. He got up and moved over, stilling as he saw the egg. He moved to Druen's side, careful not to alert Zalmask. She might kill the small egg to put it out of it's misery, something that in her mind was kind. But Z knew that there was a chance for the tiny egg. He smiled thankfully at Druen, carefully tilting his head at him. "Move on, I need to inspect this egg. You don't want to be around if..." He didn't say the unspoken words. If something is wrong. Zalmask stirred, and he forcibly quieted her with thoughts of how Virtue might be injured if she left it.
Z wouldn't move to make Druen go away if the beastcrafter didn't leave, picking up the excited egg and holding it up tt he dim light of the hatching sands. Now the fetus could be seen in more detail, and he grit his teeth. Something was wrong with it. He knew that much. But... it would still be able to live if it made it to hatching, he thought. So he placed it back down, turning to look at Druen. "Don't act concerned about the egg." He whispered, keeping his eyes down. "Zalmask will try to 'put it out of it's misery' if she notices it, so don't draw any attention to it. Alright?" He get his voice quiet, the wherhandler careful not to alert the baby or it's mother. "Go touch the other eggs." He stood up, gesturing any candidate that wasn't busy over. They had to keep up a flow of touchers to this egg, so Zalmask wouldn't be suspicious.
He sighed.
How in the world was he supposed to keep the tiny egg secret from his Wher? This was going to be a painful experience.

Lucine was busy smiling at Gula, the little egg so much happier than she thought it could be. It was sooo cute, to! However, her happy stroking was stopped by the sight of the recently dug up egg. Curiosity quickly got the best of her; standing up, she creeped over to where it was, crouching down to reach over and touch it. (Ohgawdthisissoshort)

~Eve and Lucine~
Eve says HI. The happy egg assaults Lucine's mind with sparkles and the like, practically mentally bouncing. It was so excited to meet her, and it was wondering if she wanted to be friends! The wherlet inside was definitely not intelligent... but it made up for it by being the happiest dang thing to ever be laid on these sands. Heck, it rivaled Gula for pure happiness.

Once again under the assault of a less than pleased egg, Siata cringed, her lips peeling back. It'd be horrible to admit outloud that she was thrilled that the angry egglet peeled away from her, and then the tugging - Siata frowned. A mound of sand? Oh, fine.
Other people were digging - at least one she saw. An egg, in the mound? At least in hers. The smith huffed and, with a cautious glance thrown towards Zalmask, she settled down at the mound of sand and began to dig at the smug little pull that had dragged her there.

The egg that was being revealed wasn't thankful, merely smug. It knew that Siata would have revealed it, and as it was exposed it likely earned a few strange stares. This egg was the biggest of the secrets, but it seemed... serpentine, if such a thing was possible for an egg. The shell was pitch black, with two crimson orbs situated directly on the front and seeming to gaze up at Siata. The egg itself radiated a possessive malevolence to Siata, a conscious curling around her own and exploring her mind. The dark egg laughed quietly into her mind, though it did not lash out at Siata. Oh no, of course not. The possessive creature inside the egg was trying to entrance her into staying with it, to ignore the other eggs. It wasn't the feeling of equality between handler and Wher.
It was a sense of ownership, that it owned Siata because she had dug it up. The woman would want to get out of there- quickly. Sin was not something any woman wanted to get mixed up with, even though the egg was small enough to contain only a green. It seemed to hold even more authority then Superbia, it seemed to own all the other eggs on the sands. The egg whispered in Siata's mind, promising power without the attention and responsibility of a golden hide. Isn't that what Siata wanted?
Siata had just let sealed evil under the sand loose. We're all screwed.

For a moment, all Siata could think was just how very pretty the shell was - maybe she even said it out loud. She gaped at the revealed egg until that possesive feeling clutched at her, and that mind shoved itself into hers. She hissed.
"Fuck fuck sharding fuck!" She ripped her hands away from the egg and stumbled away from the hidden secret. If the smithy had hair on her arms still, they'd be prickling, and, in fact, her pores still bumped up in the utter shock and freakyness of it all. "Ugh, shards."
Siata stared at the dark secret, her hard jaw set and shoulders straight, even as her fingers trembled just enough to be seen. The covetous pulse to the egg, the grasping and proverbial collar around her mental throat, it had her rubbing one calloused (shaking) hand over the curve of her neck in some sort of reassurance.
And, she shook her head and took several steps back from the egg, lips presed tight. Siata bipassed the untouched Wher eggs, moving as quickly as she safely could, back to the Invidia egg. Siata crouched beside it, pressed her hands once more to the shell. "You aren't freaky or scary, kid. Say hi?"
Invidia was most likely not for her, but the little thing was much, much better then being freaked out over the black and red chill - the awesomest awesome Wher ever, right?

A smug feeling trailed Siata as she fled. She'd be back. However, insecurity and sadness battled the smug feeling for a moment before being squashed.
~Siata and Invidia~
Why had Siata run from sin? Curiosity overflooded the egg for a moment, before it came to the decision that Siata just thought it was more awesome. There was momentary fear of Sin, before Invidia reassured itself. He would protect it, Invidia had nothing to fear! But who was he? Who knew! Invidia excitedly chattered to Siata, without words, about those that had touched it. Mainly they were quick colors and feelings associated with the humans, but hopefully Siata got the message. But the awesomest wher ever was so happy she'd come back!

Annette was somewhat puzzled by the Gula Egg's response. At least, it didn't seem unhappy with her and it wasn't, well, creepy. Indeed, it even seemed quite friendly, even hopeful. But there was something else, as well. The egg seemed amused. Amused with her? Possibly, amused at her expense. She gave a little shrug, and stepped back.
She was trying to decide which egg to approach next when she noticed a few eggs actually being dug up. That was interesting by itself, but far more eye-catching was one of the candidate's reactions to one of those new eggs. She was actually swearing as she retreated away from it.
Annette was curious, now.
Annesk's be careful The brown wher was a bit unsettled, his tail lashing. Annesk's remember, Annesk's is Annesk's.
I don't have to keep going.
Annesk's not stop.
Annette gave a little shrug. Well, she was curious. Approaching it cautiously, Annette touched the Sin Egg. She did it cautiously, just with the tips of her fingers.

~Sin and Annette~
Sin doesn't like Annette. It hates something about her, while part of it had been entranced by Siata... it was repulsed by Annette. Why was seen a moment later. It had tracked down the connection to Annesk, and reacted with disgust. EWWW, A MALE! Yeah, this egg is a manhater! Sin recoils from Annette, pure hatred being thrown at her Wher... before Sin prods Annette towards Virtue. Go touch that PATHETIC FREAK. You'll probably get along MUCH BETTER.

Annette stepped carefully backward, not jumping or swearing, but moving with what speed was appropriate given the fragility of the eggs that surrounded her. That had been very bad. Not only had the egg seemed to dislike her, it had clearly hated Annesk. For his part, Annesk's eyes whirled red in the entryway where he waited only Annette's firm control keeping him from hissing or otherwise reacting.
That's it. That is it. Annesk, I have you. That's all I need. She'd had quite enough of being rejected, disliked, and frankly creeped out. Her stance, always somewhat stiff, was rigid now, her lips set in a firm line.
Annesk's stays. The brown Wher could be stubborn, sometimes. He'd even been known to go behind his handler's back, when he felt it was for her own good. Annesk's touches next egg. Touch now!
This was not her usual, chipper, joyful wher. This was Annesk as he got when he sensed her slipping into her darker moods. His eyes had turned from red to yellow, but did not return to their usual placid coloring.
"Bully," she murmured, but affectionately. She approached the Virtue Egg, defensive still. It was only the tip of an index finger that brushed the egg.

~Virtue and Annette~
Virtue seems amused by Annette, reaching out to reassure her. You mustn't let Sin bother you, the poor savage can't help it. Virtue marvels at Annette's control over her Wher, at her hard working and formal attitude when dealing with her superiors. THIS was how a wherhandler should act, and Virtue is obviously appreciative. It reaches to touch Annesk... and is obviously baffled. It's so... chipper and joyful, even in it's current move. A questioning thought is sent to Annette, wondering why her Wher was so odd. However, it encouraged her to sit down and not be so cautious. Stay and chat for a while- Virtue won't hurt you.
