Redion
Name: Redion
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Prisoner: Was. He's an outlaw now.
Crime: Dust Distribution
Craft/Rank: Apprentice Weaver.
Appearance: Redion is a tall, thin man with distinctive features. He easily sticks out in a crowd, which is somewhat annoying given his chosen profession. Redion has a slim, sharp face with a particularly pointy chin, and a lightly tanned complexion. His eyes and hair are the exact same shade of dark brown, though the latter is still growing back in from his initial shave. Before his arrest he strove to look prim and proper, and even in the outlaw camp tries to at least be somewhat well groomed.
Redion prefers to wear sturdy, practical clothes (with maaaybe some fancy ornamentation on the sleeves) but for now he's stuck with the red jumpsuit he escaped in. If he ever gets his hands on the proper tools, he'll start making clothes for himself and for trade. He does have a pair of boots and a utility belt he stole from an unconscious guard during the breakout, though the belt is somewhat worn and someone else had already stolen the knife on it.
Personality: Redion is charming and charismatic, especially to people who he thinks he can get something from. He is, however, very social to anyone and everyone. In the Dust business, you don't sell much by being gruff and unfriendly. In the outlaw camp, much of it is a mask; he really would rather not be around murderers and rapists. Things were better in Southern Boll Hold, where most of the criminals he met were only Dusters and the occasional thief or prostitute.
Redion comes across as being eager to please. He is a big believer in exchanging favors for favors, which has led to people trying to take advantage of him. However, those who tried tended to found out the hard way that Redion doesn't tolerate blocks in his path to power. In Southern Boll, all it took was a beating and a cheerfully read list of friends and family members. In the outlaw camp, he uses sabotage and careful planning.
If he has to fight physically, Redion fights dirty. He strives to avoid a slugfest, instead ducking and weaving until he gets a chance to go for the eyes or throat. He'll throw dirt in his opponent's eyes, feint, do anything he can to get a momentary advantage.
Redion's eventual goal is to establish a base in the camp, and then book it to Southern Boll Hold to take back his Dust network. Until then, he'll settle for getting in contact with his lover and partner in crime Manny. If he does, he'll try to get various things smuggled in via said partner's firelizard.
History: Redion was born to a drudge in Benden Hold. He was raised with the other children of drudges, and considered most of the low-ranking staff as parents (or at least uncles and aunts). He was a pretty social child, and was always eager to show off some new game or interesting fact he knew. He quickly learned how to charm treats out of people.
At 9 Turns old, Redion taught himself the basics of sewing by watching the adults. It would take some time before he learned how to do it without pricking his fingers, though. At 10 Turns he figured out how to sew the seams in his clothes so that he could hide things in them (usually sewing needles or bits of pretty cloth that he didn't want other children to take). By 11 Turns, he was hiding Dust for some of the people of the Hold. At first, all he knew was that occasionally someone would hand him a packet and a bubbly pie or some small change and they'd collect it at a later date. When he found out about it later, he argued for a better price for his services.
Eventually, most of the eligible children were sent away to crafthalls in one big group, with the rest staying behind to work at the hold. Redion ended up at Weavercraft Hall in Southern Boll Hold at 14 Turns of age, but spent more time making connections among the hold people than actually working at the crafthall. It is for this reason that he never got past the apprentice stage despite his natural talent. This is also where he got more heavily into the Dust trade.
By 17 Turns, Redion had left Weavercraft Hall and was selling Dust full time. He started carrying a crossbow for protection and made sure to keep practicing with it, though as confrontations go he only ever had to give warning shots. He met Manny, a journeyman Technician, at 20 Turns and recruited him into the Dust ring. With the man's help, Redion was able to climb much higher in the ranks and eventually broke away to form a minor Dust ring of his own. The inner circle was made of five people. Manny designed and oversaw the making of the parts for making the Dust, Brandy ensured the drug was being made properly, Coon was in charge of recruiting, Alley controlled the thugs, and Redion was the major dealer.
It was Brandy who sold them out, though Red doesn't know that. All he knows is that one day the Dragon Watch burst into their manufacturing plant and started arresting people. The rest of the inner circle escaped, but Redion was caught while helping Manny through the trapdoor. He arrived at Warden's just months before the breakout, after which he Impressed Perispeth.
Other stuff: He goes by Red most of the time, and did not change his name post-Impression. Those names of his cohorts are all nicknames. Also, though he sold Dust, he never used it.
Perispeth
Name: Perispeth
Art Type: Cubism
Hex Code: 994422
Appearance:
Perispeth's blindness is apparent at first glance, his eyes not swirling with his moods but remaining a solid, blind white. Yet, for all that his eyes are unsettling, Perispeth is a handsome brown. He's on the large size in terms of length, but not in bulk. While he may grow to nearly the size of a small bronze, he'll never match one in mass. He's a narrow, streamlined creature with a particularly long neck and a narrow face.
His hide at his darkest is the color of undoctored klah, a color that shows at the tips of his wings and snout. It lightens to a rich chocolate everywhere else, with swirls of a pale, creamy brown interrupting along his sides and curling up his wings.
Personality:
While he might have been a bit frantic when he first entered the world, and he'll certainly always cling to his rider by necessity and inclination, Perispeth is a fairly laid back dragon. His blindness requires him to be adaptable and non-aggressive, perhaps even a little manipulative to get by. You can bet he'll be playing up his weakness to Juarth, knowing that the pink can be relied on for protection. See, Perispeth isn't the sort who think he can simply put blindness aside and be good as any other dragon. He is what he is, and shard-it, he'll do what's necessary to survive in the harsh world he hatched into. He isn't offended by a helping hand. No, he welcomes a bit of charity.
Relaxed though he is, Perispeth is also deeply curious about the world around him. His rider can expect to have his dragon constantly poking about his head, learning to see through the images they share between them. He may not be the sort trying to be 'as good as' his fellows, but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to experience the world in his own right. He'll poke his snout into just about anything, asking questions, sniffing and tasting what he can't see. An intelligent and inventive dragon, he'll often pipe up with unusual solutions to the problems the outlaws face.
Though being social is something of a necessity where Perispeth is concerned, he'd be inclined toward making friends regardless. Perispeth loves company, whether company loves him or not. Indeed, he's a bit of a flirt, though flirting is more a method of communication for him than a means toward an end. He's naturally complimentary, although his compliments are much more likely to be about how someone smells or sounds. He's lighthearted, often making light of his own blindness with self-deprecating but amusing comments. Perhaps because of his blindness, Perispeth is drawn to others with physical issues. His fellow flawed clutchmates, the fragile purples, and even humans who happen to be missing bits of themselves will all attract his curious attention.
Around his rider, Perispeth can lean toward the demanding. He relies on his more than the average dragon and therefore he needs said rider to always be there fore him. He can be a bit jealous and possessive, demanding explanations if his rider leaves him behind or spends too much time with friends. For Perispeth, however, his very eyes are abandoning him in such situations, so perhaps it's understandable that he gets a bit clingy. Of course, he loves his rider, but he assumes that can be taken for granted. He may be a flirt, but he's not very good at the 'touchy-feely' side of things.
