Amisi
Name: Amisi
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Prisoner: No
Crime: Petty Thievery (Pies), Public Nuisance
Craft/Rank: Weyrbrat
Appearance: It is clear to everyone that D’ji and Amisi are related. She shares his hair, klah brown and tightly curled, though hers shows a slightly redder hue in bright sunlight, more akin to her mother’s auburn hair. The girl put her own twist on her eyes, the brown hue more reminiscent of Meruna’s eyes than D’ji or Sima, and full of mischief that neither parent is wont to show. Her dimples were first borne by Kiri, who takes great humor in the fact that her “man-killing” dimples grace the face of a niece barely ten turns younger than her (D’ji shook in his boots the first time he stumbled on his lover Iria giving Amisi lessons in smiling coyly at boys). The rest of her is all her mother: nose slightly too broad for her oval-shaped face, shapely full eyebrows and long, full eyelashes.
Amisi retains the cream-pale skin of her mother even while living as the daughter of a dragonrider, constantly out in the sun-heavy Bowl. Freckles dust her face and form, but are near invisible in their paleness. Her hands are slim and nimble, covered in scratches and scars from the Turns of work and hard play. Her form is willowy, with the curves of a woman but the delicacy of youth. Apt to walk around barefoot, for she loves the feel of soil between her toes, Amisi bears calluses almost as hard on her hands as she does her feet, from all the work she does cutting and pruning and weeding, when not playing with the other Weyrbrats.
She walks (when she isn’t running or skipping – her preferred methods of foot-travel) much more like an adult than a teenager. No slouchy, slow walk here, even her walking is akin to another’s run, brisk and determined. She wants to see everything she can, to experience life to its fullest. Like both her parents, she carries strong muscles quietly, close to her bones, visible only enough to show they are there, not so much as to look bulky, like many Smiths and Beastcrafters; a dancer's build, as the offworlders call it, despite that she has not the height or exaggeratedly long-looking legs of a dancer, at 5'0" and for all intents and purposes, staying there - her mother's height, D'ji used to remind her. Meant she was perfect in all ways to him, that comment, when she came to him complaining of being too short and getting teased for it when younger. "You're perfect, like your Mammi, Sisi, don't let them tell you otherwise," he would tell her.
Vibrant red, pale pink, teal blue, light purple, chartreuse green, chiffon yellow, any and all in-between she adores, unless she's doing chores or helping D'ji, then it's brown, sturdy, hard to stain, brown. She vacillates between pants and skirts or dresses as her mind desires, having plenty of both, thanks to D'ji gifting her often with cloth, and Iria willing to help her sew garments - neither bluehandler or girl is good with delicate embroidery, so her clothing bears little to none, except for the pieces gifted to her by her relatives, which are heavy with it to make up for the lack in the rest of her wardrobe.

Personality: confident, perceptive, impulsive, curious, loving
While Amisi looks like her mother and parts of her personality came from both of her parents, she is still an unique individual. Everyone is, it's really not that surprising, when you think about it.
She's confident, in a way unlike many thirteen Turn olds, too busy with maintaining the status quo of their peers, of being in their assigned "position" in the pack. It's not that she's a rebel, not giving a shard. She's not a rebel, just doesn't give a shard. Even at five Turns, just starting Lessons, she went up and punched the seven Turn old Weyrleader's son, bloodying his nose simply because he had made her best friend cry. Iria had taught her how to punch, figuring it was high time the girl was able to stand up for herself, even at the young age of five, especially in their world (to Iria, Amisi was as much a joy and a liability, someone that D'ji could be threatened with, and she wanted to make sure it was as hard as possible for those who would threaten). She knows who she is, and is comfortable for the most part. Yes, she has the ups and downs and insecurity that are part of every teenager, but they don't take her over. She's Amisi, daughter of bronzerider D'ji and his beloved wife Sima, simple as that. She'll take no guff from anyone trying to give her guff, standing her ground authoritatively, even if she has no grounds to stand on, simply because she knows that (for the most part), if she can explain her actions to the elders around her, she will be believed, and allowed to explain her actions.
Amisi says what she thinks, no matter what it is, assured by the continued love of her family. In part she does this because she notices things, lots of things. That's what happens when you're placed in the creche at the Weyr, surrounded by other littles as soon as you're weaned. At an age too young to speak, you do what else you can - explore the world around you, and stare at people, think deep baby-thoughts. She's empathetic by way of picking up on people's emotions, not by way of taking them into herself. It's not sympathy, though she does comfort them when sad, or make that one blurted comment that reveals the truth through walls they attempt to put up. She might be wrong, she might be right, but she notices the little details, the too-fast blinks, the trembles, the twitches, the appearance of clothing. When little she was always the one to go over and rock the littlest members of the creche right before they began to fuss, or bring over one of the adults, when she could talk, and tell them that the child was hungry or needed to be changed. It wasn't that she did this constantly, she had her own friends once old enough to talk (even before that), but her awareness of everything outside her never faded.
Perhaps it was the touch-and-go that happened just after her birth, or just that innate child-danger-awareness ramped up and twisted to be aware of things that weren't dangers, per say, but problems that could be fixed. She's a bit of a problem solver, Amisi is, at least as far as it goes along with her perceptiveness. If someone's upset, she wants them to feel better, or if someone needs something said to them, because they aren't realizing the truth, she'll say it to them. Even if it turns out to be along the lines of "He doesn't like you at all!" blurted out before her hands are clapped over her mouth as she blushes in shock and wishes the ground would swallow her whole.
She's still got, and might always have, the typical child-perceptiveness of the world, the way of looking, that viewpoint that adults don't quite comprehend, the view that allows children to make long-winded adventures out of discovering their tree-holds collapsed by well-meaning adults, afraid they'll be hurt in them, the children taking this "tragedy" and turning it into a game, interviewing the hold-builders as they rebuild the "holds" and "crafthalls" and "Marks" (sticks and leaves) are passed from Crafter to Holder to rebuild. It's more than imagination, as imagination can continue into adulthood unhindered - that is the gift of the greatest Harpers (and many parents). It's this, as much as her general perceptiveness that gives Amisi so much trouble - at sixteen she's still fine with playing these games and randomly hugging people who look sad, to make them feel better.
It can't be denied, as shown above, that Amisi is impulsive. She is, clearly. She doesn't have much a of a brain-mouth filter when it comes to things. It's not that she wants to hurt feelings, she just can't seem to help herself, it comes out, for better or worse. Luck and genetics kept her from being impulsive in anger. She's more irrational and impetuous in her anger (Sima's daughter, and a thirteen Turn old girl, there's no way she'll be as cool a customer as D'ji), and yes, things that she's noticed about people and their relationships can get blurted out in the heat of the moment, but she won't go flying off the handle without a good reason.
Hurt her family? She gets angry. Hurt her friends? (She punched the Weyrleader's son, what do you think?) Those are good reasons, to her. She loves, as she is loved, deeply and fully. Even as D'ji can give her reasons to roll her eyes and sigh as any teenager does when faced with foolish jokes from their fathers, she knows he would do anything for her. She grew up with Iria in their lives, and though she never viewed the woman as "Mammi", she was never jealous of the attention D'ji paid to the bluehandler, happier than they were when Iria thought she might be pregnant - even at six, she thought she would enjoy a younger sibling to dote on, another being for her to love. She knows her mother loved her - the entire family tells her that, even though its hard to miss something she never had. This guides her, and carries her to love and care for others: no matter what happens, what mistakes she makes, what she says out of impulse and a child's perception, she always has her family to fall back on and comfort her.
As she is loved, Amisi knows that it is alright to fear. Not that she fears much - working in the dirt from a young age gave her no fear of bugs, she actually enjoys them, and tunnelsnakes only raise the fear they do in most everyone: that of the poison's effects if bit. She does fear her father dying, as every child does. She hates the thought of anyone she loves dying, even as she accepts that death is a natural part of life - she has seen dragonets between, and knows animals become meat for her table (she went vegetarian once, because of this - it lasted a sevenday, until the kitchens made herder's pie, her favorite). She knows fear is a part of life, and it will always be with her, in some form; she just doesn't like it much.
Despite her fears - death, growing up - Amisi has always embraced the new. Even though like many people she can be hesitant about things she knows nothing about, her wonder about Pern over all combines with her impulsiveness to make her as eager to discover as the most wide-eyed five-Turn old starting their Lessons. She wants to know about everything she can, all about Pern, pestering Apprentices or Journeymen of all crafts, to tell her how things work, to show her how things work, to teach her how to do some of the things they do, regardless of the fact that she has not Apprenticed, just been a Weyrbrat. Sometimes during visits her Grapappi Cordel jokes that she should have taken after his sister and been a Harper, with her curiosity, but Amisi knows better, in herself. For all that she wants to know about everything, and as much about the places off of Pern as she can, she loves being a Weyrbrat. It's not that she loves having no Craft to worry about Apprenticing with - she does bits and pieces of most Crafts, making her own jewelry out of pretty stones and string, trying to make her own clothing, cooking a little, writing a little, fixing things, making little tables and attempting to whittle, that sort of thing. She just loves knowing that she never needs to leave her father's side - she fought him to have him bring her to Warden's, regardless that it was a prison, and is determined to Stand for the Hatchings, to see if a dragonet wants her - the ultimate goal of near all Weyrbrats, Standing.
History: Sima and Djordji's little girl. Her birth brought about her mother's death, and in his grief, Djordji wished to name her after Sima - only his promise to Sima that he wouldn't do so, should anything happen, stopped him. Instead, he changed the name around and added an additional letter, the I from the end of his name to the end of hers. Amis-I: Amisi.
Amisi could easily have become a spoiled little girl: a guilty, young, inexperienced father would easily had bent to her whims. Had he not been too busy, and had she not been taken into the creche when he and his family were out working the fields, once she was weaned from Anca, her milk-mother. Djordji spent as much time with Amisi as he could, when not working, bringing her back to the family cottage to sleep at night and the days he had off. His field-leaders understood the challenges he was under, for when he was required to do fieldwork, and didn't press him to work too long or too hard (in part because the younger ones were scared of Costel, and the older ones were friends of Costel - or that was what was said. More like because all the field leaders were scared of Meruna). Since he was a hybridizer and horticulturalist, Meruna would order him away from the wheat and grain fields, into helping her, assuring that he would be done by three candlemarks after noon, or so, and able to bring Amisi back home considerably before dinner, when he had the chance (more often than D'ji remembers it occurring). His Search and subsequent Impression to Ordith was quite a surprise to all. Amisi liked the big bronze, content to curl up under his wings and play or nap.
Amisi made numerous friends in the creche - as an active and eager toddler only going there when her surprise-Impression father was too busy to have her with him, she still found herself wandering around at three and four without him more and more, but with her friends, Cvetka included. Cvetka's crying on their first day of Lessons was what prompted Amisi to punch the Weyrleader's son, Gazini. The two girls did well in their Lessons, bright and curious about life as they both were, part of the larger pack of Weyrbrats that roamed the Weyr, causing mischief as they would.
Nothing really extraordinary happened in her life, but for recieving Stripe and finding Spots right before going into Harper Lessons, and learning the fine art of stealing bubbly pies. Once in Lessons Amisi started getting more stories of her mother from D'ji, and her father went from Weyrling to full Rider, meaning he got too busy to play with her as he had between Lessons. It didn't matter much, as she had started her Lessons and was happy with the friends she had made in the two Turns at the Weyr. The most notable thing in her life (besides her flitters) was the first time she was kissed, much as the first kiss had been for her parents. That it came to the eleven Turn old from the thirteen Turn old Candidate Gazini didn't endear him any more to her than he'd managed through their Lessons time, and he walked onto the Hatching Sands with a broken nose. Her punches had gotten stronger over the Turns, and her aim wasn't any worse, especially with wherhandler training, thanks to Iria.
The girl grew with a love for both dragons and whers - Ordith and Irisk were both always sweet to her, and majestic in their own ways. She is sad to leave Iria and Irisk behind to follow D'ji to Warden, but knows that she can't leave her father - or she won't leave her father. She would love to Impress, given the chance at either creature, but knows she is young for it, and figures that just gives her more chances.
