History:
Qadr, mother, deceased at 32
Tondryn, father, aged 57

Qadron, brother, aged 26 Turns, unknown work
Tadyr, brother, aged 24 Turns, in prison for murdering a man in cold blood
Tandryn, sister, aged 22 Turns, Greenrider of Anendath at Fort Weyr
Tanyrion, himself
Qaena, sister, deceased at 6 Turns
Qdrona, sister, deceased at 2 months[/ul]
But Tanyrion, having grown up and lived like this all of his life, did not at all think this unfair, this life he lived. So he grew up the youngest son of his family, and hed never had any reason to live his life differently. He and his family were Traders, and since he and his family were such, they were a tightly-knit family sharing their trades with several other families. Not all of the families were as large as Tondryns was, but some were close. No matter, though, for Tondryns family was surely the lowest of the food chain of the Traders. And while they were not treated unkindly, Tondryns family was not the one with the most lavish clothing or the best foodstuffs. However, the family kept living, and Tondryn and Qadr kept breeding. Rather, having children, as a healthier alternative to the word breeding, even if its what the couple kept doing.
Even with the children, the Traders that Tondryn and his brood called home with were barely fewer than ten adults strong, and three of those adults were elders, two of them being too old to do anything other than sit in the caravans and twiddle their thumbs. They and their lone watchwher were something to laugh about, even if they were rich with supplies. Their richness meant that they were targets of raids. Many raids. There were a great many times when children died by these raids, even Tondryns youngest child, Qdrona, at only two months of age.
Qadr died in a way most women die on Pern, especially when the woman in question does not live in a Hold where a Healer can see to her. She died giving birth to a stillborn son, and for a while there was grief. But even after that while was up, Qadrs death was accepted as a fact of life and she was written off as a casualty of war, the war being between the raiders and the Traders. There is, of course, no war on Pern.
With their mothers death, Tondryn realized that his children were not as safe as he (didnt) think they were, and decided to leave his life of Trading in order to raise them better. He and his brood found their final resting place (for the time being) at Fort Weyr, where the children were welcomed with open arms and their father more or less ignored for his lack of any sort of helpful knowledge. However, happy times did not just follow the children and their father. In fact, within only a Turn, Qaena, the childrens youngest surviving sister, became sick with perhaps the equivalent of pneumonia and died at the tender age of six.
The children changed, roamed farther from their fathers Trading ways, and broke off into their different preferred crafts. Some crafts werent as good as others, and Tadyr, Tanyrions older brother, murdered a man in cold blood, forcing himself into being a prisoner. Qadron, Tanys oldest brother, literally dropped off the edges of the known world, and Tany never heard of him again. When she was old enough, Tandryn (Ryn) stood for a hatching and Impressed to Green Anendath. She stayed in Fort Weyr.
As for Tanyrion, the boy began learning his craft way earlier than the age of twelve, when most young boys and girls were told to start crafts. He started around the age of nine Turns, and it was apparent that Tany had a natural affinity for making the hides he tanned do what he wanted. His hides, though crude at first, became better and better and he was elevated to the rank of senior apprentice at the age of twelve, when other children were just starting out their apprenticeship.
After making it to senior Journeyman Tanner at the age of eighteen, Tany heard of Wardens Weyr. Actually, it wasnt too hard not to hear of it. Ryn was nearly bursting with the news of their older brother being sent there to live the rest of his days there, nowhere else. Or something like that. Unlike his other siblings, Tanyrion had kept in close contact with Tandryn, Ryn, and was actually sometimes living in her weyr with her. The girl didnt have a weyrmate as she didnt like the closeness of men, but she allowed her brother to stay with her whenever he was at the Weyr.
Thinking this as good a time as any to help people other than himself, the selfless boy went to the Weyr and became a guard. It was quickly learned that, no, Tannery was not needed as a craft here and that, no, his brother had not changed one bit from that crappy person Tanyd known since his birth. But thats not why Tanyrion came to the Weyr in the first place. This was different, a new challenge, one that Tany was willing to accept. He wasnt even surprised when the dragon Queen Ran because this Weyr was, of course, different. He didnt expect much less.
