Character Name
Name: Yekemi
Age: 50
Gender: Male
Prisoner: Yes, outlaw
Crime: Kidnapping, rape, torture, murder
Craft/Rank: Journeyman herder
Appearance: Yekemi is not a particularly large man. He is stronger than he appears, true, but hidden strength is not very good for avoiding conflicts in the first place. It doesn't help that his face is rather thin and looks fragile, and thus seems quite punchable. Yekemi's hair was once black, but has gone mostly grey. His skin has darkened considerably over the years, and is heavily callused.
Yekemi is scarred on his chest and arms, both from the unfortunate side-effects of bothering herdbeasts and from fights with victims and watchmen. These scars have a minimal effect on his physical abilities because, until shortly before his arrest, he had been able to get under-the-counter medical care by threatening his healer brother. He is in excellent health despite his age, and quite strong. He facetiously attributes this to the medical benefits of stalking and torturing people, but the actual reason probably has to do with the aforesaid healer brother.
Personality: Yekemi likes breaking people, especially those he feel are haughty or arrogant. He will use every trick he knows, whether it be attacking a family member or sexual assault, to break his victim as quickly and as far as he can. Killing them afterward is usually just so they can't identify him. His usual technique is to spend a week to a month stalking his victims in order to learn as much as possible about them, kidnap them, torture them for however long it takes for them to break, and then kill them and dispose of the body with whatever means available.
When he's not partaking in his favorite hobby, Yekemi is cold and calculating. Everything he does is done to fulfill goal of his, whether that goal is to rise in the pecking order or to trick someone into trusting him. He can fake an emotional response, but under no circumstances should someone assume that's what he actually feels about something.
Yekemi is perfectly capable of feeling emotions such as sorrow or happiness; they just tend to only trigger in unusual circumstances. He doesn't feel sad when someone he knows dies -he just felt vaguely irritated when he heard of his brother's passing, for example- but he does when circumstances change so that his plans become unworkable.
History: Yekemi and his twin brother Mirkemi were born to a fisherman family in Nerat Hold. They were both raised perfectly normally (if a little strictly), with no worries about Dust or criminal influences. Yekemi was a vicious bastard even back then, always tormenting his brother. He was very creative about it, too.
When the two of them turned twelve, they were sent off to different crafthalls. Mirkemi went to Healer Hall while Yekemi, already strong from helping to haul in catches, went to the Beastcrafthall of Keroon. There, he very quickly learned the value of sabotaging the other apprentices in order to make himself look better.
Yekemi's first murder victim was a journeyman herder who committed the unpardonable sin of accusing him of stealing a handful of marks. As Yekemi was actually innocent of this particular crime, he retaliated by tricking the journeyman into meeting him alone and stabbing him to death. He then fed the journeyman's body to the resident porcines. Yekemi was 19 turns old at the time.
After his own promotion to journeyman Yekemi immediately traveled over to Fort Hold, gathering victims as he went. It was only after he turned 28 and secured his brother's help by threatening his year-old daughter that he fell into what would be his usual mode of operation.
Yekemi was brought to the attention of the Dragon-Watch because of the actions of a harper woman named Senna. She suspected he was involved in the disappearance of one of her colleagues and no carefully planned alibi of his would make her stop. She intended abuse her harper privileges in order to turn him into a laughingstock. She ended up irritating him enough that he became careless enough to get caught by the Watch.
He was imprisoned for nine turns at Fort Hold (during which his brother died of a disease) and was transferred to Warden's Weyr the moment they opened. By then he knew well how to best keep the other prisoners from bothering him and once the breakout came about he immediately took the opportunity.
Other stuff: He knows more about herdbeasts than whers, but thinks he can handle them anyway. Also, that harper? Senar's mother. This isn't likely to become relevant, though.
