Talinn
Name: Talinn
Age: 44
Gender: Female
Prisoner: No
Crime: Got on the wrong side of a Weyrleader. Does not regret it.
Craft/Rank: Brown wherhandler, master dragonhealer specialising in whers
Appearance: Over two decades as a wherhandler have made this already pale woman paler. Despite the fact that she is not albino as her son is, she is occasionally mistaken for such. Her hair used to be a darker golden blond, but she started getting silver hairs early, which, mixed in with what remains of the gold, puts her on the paler side of blond, now. The one feature that sets people straight on the albinism are her eyes. unlike an albino's pink or blue-white eyes, hers are a brown so dark they're nearly black. She is quite tall, for a woman, but thin and bony. It gives her a somewhat frightening look, overall.
Personality: Tal was a bit of a loner, even before becoming a handler. It's not that she hates people, she just never actively seeks them out. She is generally pleasant, if a little quiet. She isn't one for idle chatter and eschews gossip. Respect, for her, is very important and wasting someone's time with meaningless words or worse, gossiping about people when it's none of her business is not, to her, respectful.
Unfortunately, she is quite outspoken when it is not idle chatter. Her temper can flare rather unexpectedly and given her usually taciturn nature, it surprises. She can be very passive-aggressive, to begin with, trying, in her own way, to change what she dislikes without actually outright saying it. When pushed, this turns into outright aggression. This usually happens when she feels that someone has really pushed the boundaries of disrespect and has led to some sticky situations, including the one that led to her transfer.
History: Talinn was born in a little hold by the sea where fishing was the main activity. Her mother was the hold's healer and her father was a fisherman who died when she was quite young, during a storm. She never really knew him, so she wasn't overly upset when her mother took up with another man, the hold's wherhandler. She learned to love the ugly beasts from him, which influenced her decision to become a dragonhealer rather than a healer of humans like her mother.
She went to the healer hall and apprenticed, enjoying her studies. She was nearly 20 and preparing to walk the tables to journeyman when, while assisting at a wher hatching, an ugly little brown decided to ignore all other candidates presented to him and make a beeline for her. She was amenable to the decision and halted her studies in order to properly care for the newly-named Task. She did walked the tables a few Turns later and found herself a nice little niche at a weyr-hold as the dragonhealer who tended the whers who lived there.
She took up with a fellow wherhandler, Malakei of blue Mask, at the weyr-hold and continued her studies at her own rhythm. This was, however, halted by the birth of her son, an adorable little baby boy she named Takei. Her healer training was the only thing that kept her from completely panicking when she saw the child and realised that he had no pigmentation. She did, however, have to reassure the boy's father, who was sure that lack of pigmentation was a sign of a terrible illness and decided to stay by the baby at all times for a few sevendays. The bluehandler's reaction clued her in to the fact that the weyr-hall's crèche workers might not be the best caretakers for her baby and despite tradition, she decided to raise her son herself, even after her relationship with Malakei came to a mutually agreed upon end.
Her years at the weyr-hold were mostly uneventful. She finally managed, once Takei was a little older, to become a masterdragonhealer specialising in whers. Life could have simply continued like this if it hadn't been for a particularly obnoxious new Weyrleader. She strongly disapproved of how little respect he showed the whers and their handlers, but she was pushed over the edge by a nasty comment directed towards her son while she was taking care of the man's injured flitt. A shouting match ensued and the Weyrleader's ill-timed menacing step forwards alarmed Task, who snapped menacingly at the man to warn him away from Talinn. The wher only caught air, as had been his intention since he did not want to anger the man's bronze dragon, and he had been defending his handler from potential physical harm, so there was no reprimand given to the woman. However, a transfer away from the belligerent Weyrleader and towards Warden's Weyr was quite strongly recommended.
Other stuff: Takei's mom, since in his history it says she and Task transferred with him, I figured she should get a profile or something. I don't really intend on playing her much and if someone else wants to grab her, have at, but I figured she needed to be at least presented.
Task
Name: Task
Color: Brown
Age: 25
Appearance: A nice light tan colour all around, with some darker markings around his eyes and muzzle.
Personality: Task is very calm and even-tempered, for a wher. He mostly ignores strangers' existence as long as they aren't doing anything they shouldn't, so, unlike some, he is not prone to biting or hissing. Interestingly enough, his name is pretty descriptive. He is very task oriented and will do what he is told to do doggedly until specifically told to stop. If he is told to guard an entrance, there is no one getting by him until he is ordered down either by Talinn or by someone he recognises as an authority figure. This does not always include dragonriders. He is extremely possessive of Talinn, so it suits him just fine that she doesn't talk to other people much. He must usually be convinced to share her with a new weyrmate and will sulk for days, sometimes, after one has been presented to him. He does, however, have a fondness for Takei, who he considers to be his "hatchling" and not Talinn's.
