Exile
Around 2800 after the heroes of the ninth pass have been buried and the redstar has become nothing more then a memory, dragonriders are ousted from their lands by the ever growing population. No longer necessary and a drain on perns economy, they are exiled to the northern barrier range were they struggle for survival.
A drop of blood
Skies grow hazy, a fleck of red shimmers in the cold night sky, but warnings go unheeded. Thread falls and the effects are devastating, many a hold is decimated and the dragon riders stand by and watch with cold detachment.
Hail Dragonrider!
The dragonriders return to fort weyr, but this time their services come at a high price. For why should they risk their necks for those who had forced them into a harsh land where they had to live as vagabonds and cattle thieves?. They fight thread as diligently as their ancestors but live in more luxury then a dragonrider ever did. By the end of the pass, the weyr pulls the strings on pern.
One Weyr rules all
Thus the rule of fort weyr begins. They refuse to let the holders try to dismiss them once more. A skirmish breaks out between the weyr and the holds, a skirmish that is easily won by the weyr. A dark age begins, Lord holders are barely above the people they rule. All serve the weyr and the only hopes of a better life is impressing a dragon. Slavery isn't uncommon, and what the weyr wants, the weyr gets.
A Mad Queen
As if things weren't bad enough a young gold hatches on the weyr sands in the turn of 4252, impressing to a young healer named Alira but not before mauling some of her siblings on the sands. Soon the pair become the senior queens and things take a turn for the worse as greens and blues are forced to live in a cramped desert weyr, sharing weyrs with 2 or 3 dragons at a time all because of one woman's homophobia.
Rebellion?!
Rebellion stirs amongst the holders, whispers of it crawl and creep amongst those in the desert weyr too, but the mad queen seems to have eyes in the back of her head, and the young golds that hatch and impress disappear under mysterious circumstances.
All Neora needs is a spark, Will you provide it? or will you douse the flames of rebellion?
