Kailin
Name: Kailin
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Prisoner:
Crime: Theft (petty, unless you consider a keg of ale to be a serious offence), Arson (though she's always stuck to her claim that she'd not meant to burn quite that much).
Craft/Rank: Outlaw Weyrling - Apprentice Fishercraft/Sailor
Appearance:
P!nk - Alecia Moore
To put it frankly, she's short, barely topping 5'4". Times were she was also quite a stocky little thing, back when she was on board ship, though over a turn in Wardens has seen her take on a more feminine shape. Don;t be fooled into thinking she won't still knock your block off if you try anything, though. She's got a nice tan to her skin, both a remnant from being out on deck for much of the day and from the Southern sun, not too dark but neither too pale, a nice golden glow. Except for the odd bruise that she gets from odd places, and the myriad of little hairline scars that can be found on her hands and forearms and anywhere else that came into frequent contact with the rough rope aboard ship.
She's topped with a short mass of pale blonde hair, cut roughly and often spiky. She's never paid much attention to it and isn't planning to change anytime soon. Her eyes are perhaps her best feature, a narrow almond shape and a pale greenish grey. Other than that, she's pretty, kinda. Not beautiful, she's too rugged for that. Clothing wise, she doesn't really pay all that much attention to that either. If given the choice, she prefers nice or bright colours, tops that aren't loose, and bottoms that allow her freedom of movement, just as long as that freedom isn't in the from of a dress or skirt. She's a trousers girl through and through. She's not afraid to wear mens clothes though, and will settle for a baggy top if there's nothing else around. She eschews girly clothing, more out of principle, necessity and upbringing than a dislike of pretty things. If it weren't for the fact that every prisoner wears them, she'd still be showing off in the red jumpsuits, determined to make the best of them.
Personality: Enthusiastic, intelligent, kind and generous, Kailin makes good company to keep. She has a tendancy to being blunt though, and generally will say something as it is, without embellishment and with little concern for hurt feelings. The truth hurts, honey, if you can't take it then don't ask for it. She's quite open with people, and willing to talk to next to anyone, but struggles to carry the conversation with a more reluctant to speak person.
If someone's telling a story they will have her full attention, for the former Fishercraft Apprentice loves a good story, and as many of the craft, is a little on the superstitious side too - she'll likely believe most of the stories you tell her if they seem feasible, but she's not a complete idiot; the more outlandish stories won't fool her, even if she does still like to hear them. As for her own tales however, she can't tell them for toffees. Somehow they loose all sense of charm or humour when they come from her mouth. She is, however, rather quick to judge, and her opinion won't improve until you've proven to her that what you did was highly unusual for you - and even then she probably won't forget it.
Outside a conversation, she's adventurous, some say reckless, possessing a seemingly unending reserve of energy. She's somewhat lacking a sense of self-preservation, however, having a rather high pain threshold - pain isn't really a threat to her. She justifies this by being highly protective, and will readily take a bullet for someone she cares for, or even someone she sees as more important in the larger scheme of things than she. She's also willing to take a chunk out of someone in defence of another, but she has a line that she refuses to cross - she will not kill. She'll make you wish she had, but that's as far as she will go. And with that firm stipulation, it's understandable how she's unimpressed for being locked up for a crime with the same severity as murder.
History: She wasn't born to much. Her parents were neither crafters nor rich, her both working in the Hold proper at Tillek, where Kailin spent much if her early life. Actually most of her life, for even when she entered the crafthall she didn't actually go anywhere. As a child she ran riot around the hold, spending as much time with the other hold brats as she did with her parents, if not more. Most of her friends were guys, or the hardier girls like herself, many of whom were children of sailors. This meant spending hours down at the docks, getting in the way of sailors and playing with dolphins.
Kailin decided that she liked the life, and wanted to pursue it as a craft, so when she came of age she applied to the Dolphin Hall at Tillek. She was accepted, and began her tutelage that turn. She couldn't settle, however, and not a turn later she left, half of her own volition and half because she was on the verge of getting expelled for mouthing off a few too many times to her seniors. ... and for planting something offensive in one of the master's offices.
She went back to moping around the harbour for a little while, before catching a job as a ship's hand. This led, rather quickly, for the signups for Fishercraft were just around the corner, to her beginning another apprenticeship, one that was thankfully a little more tolerant of her energies. Or rather, was unafraid to beat it out of her with a sharp crack on the head and a cut ration of grog.
Sailor life apparent;y agreed with her more than that of a dolphineer, for she didn't walk out (or get chucked out) of it. The sailors did knock some sense and respect into her though, even if it was a little rough and laid back.
Out at sea she was fine, more often than not she was busy enough to nave little energy left for mischief, that or someone found something for to do, but on land she had little to do but kick her heels until her ship set out again. This, again, got her into trouble. Not only did she, in a bout of jealousy and hatred, steal a keg of ale and throw a bunch of letters (from his lover, hence the jealousy) into the fireplace to burn, she also managed to leave the place only to have it burn down, taking half of the cottage next door with it.
Kailin, for her part, was horrified, at first. Then she settled for thinking 'well it served the asshole right.' Trouble was, she wasn't difficult to pin as the culprit, as she'd been seen around the house and it wasn't exactly a secret that there was trouble between her and the owners of the house in question, and as such she had no hope of convincing them that the fire was actually an accident and that she hadn't meant for it to burn to the ground. And, although technically nobody died in the fire, she was charged with arson.
So she was understandably not all that chuffed with being packed off to Warden's and charged as a violent prisoner, having her hair cut off (even though she kept it quite short as a rule) and being strapped to a detox table. Dust? Why on Pern would she get involved with that stuff?
She'd not been there all that long when Semith ran, about 7 months, long enough for her to regain a full head of hair at least. And when news reached her that the Weyrlingmaster had somehow wangled a way for prisoners to stand for the clutch that resulted, she jumped at the chance... only to be told, firmly, that there wasn't a rat's chance in Threadfall that she'd be standing. Violent prisoner indeed! She'd not laid a finger on anyone since arriving, except for in self defence. For some reason a few of the inmates thought that a short stocky female was fair game to take advantage of. What they failed to realise was that she'd been dealing with often drunk and bawdy sailors for half her life, and wasn't afraid to fight dirty, weaponless or not.
Bug
Name: Bug
Pattern: Striper Glowbug
Appearance:
Personality: Lazy :3
Dazanth
Name: Dazanth
Age: Hatchling
Color: Yellow
Hex: FF9900
Flower: Buttercup
Appearance: Dazanth is a big starburst of AWESOME - right? She is a thick girl in all the right places, more muscle then fat, and not very long at all. Her claws are exceptionally long, her tail whipcord in comparison to the rest of her body. Her wingspan is average, but the thick frame will keep her from having very long Flights or too much stamina.
Speaking of - she has freckles. All of them. They cover a good amount of skin, sprinkling over shoulders, legs, wings, and muzzle. She finds them quite pretty and has no problems talking about them.
C'mon kid, let's go and paint the town - and all that jazz!
Rouge your knees, and roll your stockin's down
And all that jazz!
Rouge your knees, and roll your stockin's down
And all that jazz!
Personality: Dazanth is sweetness, light, and love. Not 100%, but who is? She tries to be as innocent as possible, taking little true offense to things said and trying to turn them around in her favor. Kind words may not always leave her brain, but the intentions are nevertheless there. Even with being an atyp, violence goes against what she thinks is fun - and Dazanth is all about fun. She flirts when proddy, all mental giggles, flicking tail. The main victim of her sugary affection is the most unlikely suspect: Juarth.
The part of her that isn't darling and adorable is something just a bit manipulative. Oh, this doesn't mean she goes out of her way to try and twist people around her fingers, but she sure as shootin' isn't going to let someone take advantage of her. She's a smart girl, and has absolutely no problem gently calling them out, with sharp words in sweet tones. It's just that she can do it with style. It's a talent, dont'cha think? As is lying.
Unlike some of her sisters, Dazanth is not overly interested in being 'top dog'. She is good at things whenever she puts her mind to it, and will often try to please her rider, but when something is boring, why bother? Dazanth can lie her way out of anything, and luckily she has little moral issue with doing so if it means she doesn't have to force herself to be bored, or irritated. The yellow is distant, and good at it. Dazanth views spinning the truth as a child would a game, tossing out clever lies here and there because she can, not because she feels the need to make herself or her rider feel even more important. It's fun.
Speaking of others, and top dogs and all of that - Dazanth will do her damnedest to collect friends and allies, putting them on her shelf to admire and heap that same affection on. Her positive reactions to nearly everyone in the shell could be considered a tip of to this, at how those little stretches of truth and her pleasure with a vast majority of people may play out. Dazanth is based off a flower that means "dazzle you with my charms", and she does her best to live up to it with the friends and shinies to prove it.
Why Me? No one could be as much fun as Kailin! She is a girl who is quick to judge, and Dazanth is just the person she needs to try to keep those friends, even when the human may not be keen on doing so. They match on the enthusiasm for life, and a good story will never go wrong with Dazanth, but she can provide Kailin with security of a large dragon form and the love that seeps from her. Kailin won't have to worry about being saddled with some mean ol' dragon that'll claw her face off at the first incident, but a patient one who would rather giggle then pout. Kailin will give Dazanth an outlet for her energy.
With that outlet, as well, Dazanth does have a sense of self-preservation. Damn straight she will be using it.
Other stuff: She's gonna breakout and go candidate xD I'll get her form up when I've finished her profile.
