Sh'lon
Name: Sh'lon (Shealon / Still often goes by Shea)
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Prisoner: No
Craft/Rank: Greenrider / Apprentice Beastcrafter
Appearance:
Ed Speleers
Average in appearance, he is definitely more on the cute side of the scale. With the lean body typical of runner racers and the strength of the smith blood, he is certainly worth a look for many a girl, and guy for that matter. With that, he stands at about 5'10" tall, good sized for a guy, not too short and not too tall as to be lanky.
His tanned skin shows a working life, along with the several scars he owes to the animals he works with day by day. Not to mention the fight he got into with a feline when he was out scouting for wild herdbeasts, leaving his with a clawed right arm and chest and a dislike of felines of any sort. They're currently the only animal he holds no love for. He is, however, rather fond of showing off his scars when chatting to people, which is quite a lot.
Facial wise he has fairly soft features, topped by dusty coloured light brown hair which verges on blonde. The hair style is usually fairly messy, with nothing more serious than a run through with his fingers in the morning. This does mean, however, that when it gets wet it’s usually fairly difficult for him to work out the knots, compounded by the fact that it has a bad habit of going slightly curly in the rain, making it only look worse. His eyes are soft, almond shaped and the same colour as his hair, a pale hazel. His nose and mouth are in perfect proportion with these eyes, not too large or prominent.
Personality: Charming/happy/hyperactive - No matter what situation Shea is put in, he will always do one thing - try to make friends. To him friends are invaluable, and should be as numerous as possible. It's almost as if he's building an army of support, connections in all the right places, with anyone of any gender of any temperament. This can backfire on him though, for he gets so exuberant about his company that he often overlooks any sign that he may not be wanted, only making the situation worse.
Unobservant - In actual fact he has a very bad habit of overlooking almost everything. He's so oblivious it can often take him a sevenday or so to notice that something's changed when everyone else realised the day it happens. He usually manages not to miss the most important things, and can easily laugh off any smaller occurrences when they do happen, looking appropriately sheepish if it gets him into trouble.
Outgoing/overconfident - Getting in trouble is no biggie for him anymore, he's done it so often he kinda knows what to expect by now, though with his precarious new position as a candidate even he has the sense to back off a little on the gambling, though even that prospect won't stop him entirely. As far as he sees it, if he fails at Impressing or gets booted, then he'll just go back to the beastcrafthall and walk his tables, which he's determined to do even if he does Impress. Easy. If he fails one thing then there's always another opportunity just waiting to take its place, and he's not one to turn down anything.
Oh yes, truth or dare, Shea is literally up for anything, whatever it is or means... His confidence can be a virtue and a curse at the same time. Though it means he will never back down from a challenge or order, it can of course get him into things that go way over his head. Ond over his head they often go, for in stressful social situations, he breaks down. He's just not mentally strong enough to deal with the stress.
Intelligent/Spontaneous - With this confidence though, comes the drive to do whatever he thinks of doing, before he'd had much chance to think about the consequences. With this disregard for himself you'd think him stupid or dumb - wrong. He's actually pretty smart, and a quick thinker, which is why he thinks up escapades like he does - he just doesn't bother to think about boring stuff like consequences.
Well meaning - Well, where consequences to himself are concerned anyway. On the other hand, he would never intentionally do something if he knew it wold hurt someone else. That would just go against his whole psyche - how's he supposed to make friends with someone when he hurts them? It just doesn't work. So for the most part he is considerate of others, just be warned that no matter who you are he will do his utmost to charm you onto his side of the game.
He also sports a weird connection with animals of almost any sort. He finds animals much easier to understand than his fellow humans, though this doesn’t stop his socialising with either species. If he could, he would fill his house with all sorts of animals - except cats. He loves canines, he would definitely have one of those, and a runner - a racing runner, of course, possibly several - a bovine, because he has a soft spot for the herdbeasts, and a flitter. Oh Faranth, what he wouldn’t give for a flitter. Just think, an animal he could share his very thoughts with, one who he knew unshakably would never leave him - not like his old canine, the silly thing, got eaten by wherries. His heart definitely lies with the runners though, and before his being Searched he was determined to take his specialism with runners after his Journeymanship.
History:
EDIT: He has a sister now! Lostris
Born to a couple from Ista island Shea spent the majority of his young life there. His father was a smith at Ista Hold, so he would spend many a happy hour in the forge, getting under his fathers feet and generally being a nuisance. But his father put up with it, and his son came out of it with a decent understanding of metal which he hoped Shea would take on into is apprenticeship. But alas, though Shea much enjoyed his time in the forge, his heart truly lay with the world outside and, more specifically, knee deep in mud and crap in a field with the animals.
So when the time came for him to choose his crafthall, he invariably made a beeline to the Beast Crafthall. Much of his life therein was spent at Keroon Hold, except brief sojourns to various other parts of the planet to better study the local animals and bloodlines. It was on one of these trips South that their group was set upon by a pair of Southern striped felines. Fortunately there were many more in the human party and the felines were quickly fought off, one of them even being trampled by the fleeing bovines, silly things. That was when Shea got his scars - one of the felines leapt on him after mauling one of their mates before the Master traveling with them decapitated it with an axe, (a wonder he didn’t get Shea’s head too, as he was renowned for his bad aim). When asked if he was ok, all Shea could say was bad luck they couldn’t use the second pelt.
But flesh wounds heal quickly, and within couple of months Shea was back up and about and as active as ever, though he still suffered from a slight reduction in the manoeuvrability of his right shoulder due to the scar tissue. But when, not a turn later, the riders came to Keroon on search, Shea again proved his talent for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or the right place at the right time, which happened less, but could be applied to this situation if you looked at it that way. Now he was faced with an option (not a good start) to stay at the Hall and complete his apprenticeship, or take up the riders' offer and become a candidate at the Weyr.
He chose the Weyr. How could he turn down the chance to Impress a dragon?! He could always go back to being a beastcrafter later on, whether he Impressed or not. But although he stood for the hatching, he did not Impress. Not at the next hatching either. Then, one day, he and the rest of the so far failed candidates were given an offer. A new Weyr was being set up and would like some transfer candidates; would they like to go? Shea being Shea agreed, but didn't do much research o the new Weyr, and was in for quite a shock when he finally did arrive. A prison Weyr? This wasn't even a Weyr! But he'd signed up to Impress a dragon, and that was just what he was going to do! He eventually adjusted to life at Wardens, and with the hatching fast approaching, all his hopes hung on the group of tiny eggs lying in the sand. Hatching day came. This time, he was chosen.
Other stuff: Can I be cheeky and ask for a greenie? Everyone needs greens. She can be anything you like ;)

Color: Blue
Appearance: (keywords are fine)
Personality: practical, proper, modest, loyal, dignified, medical
Kitath
Name: Kitath
Color: Green
Age: 7 months
Appearance:
The lovely artwork is by Dragon Song!
Massive. Huge. Gloriously gigantic. Kitath is built like a medium-sized blue, an especially thick one with an extremely long tail and extra-large claws. Kitath has smaller eyes than most dragons, giving her a more aggressive look than her personality allows. Her hide is a burnished green with lighter stripes along her feet and wings, like those of a tiger, and her claws gleam bright emerald. This green is surely an attention grabber, a nice bit of arm candy. Er. Wing candy?
Personality: Mine, why are you going over in that direction? Come back here!
Kitath is a non-nonsense young lady, prim and proper and more than willing to lay the smack-down on the people who get out of line. If she'd been a gold, Kitath undoubtedly would have forced herself to Rise when the time called to choose the new Weyrwoman. You're going to wander off, Sh'lon? Yeah, good luck with that one. Maybe Hers will get out of line, but when this feisty green chooses her path, she will continue on it, come Hell, high water, or irritated wherries. She has absolutely no problem spelling things out for those who came with less than average amount of brains.
Speaking of intelligence, Kitath has it and in spades. When Kitath learns something, she retains it and will throw it back in people’s faces if she needs to. Kitath sees everything and anything, files it away in her ocean of knowledge and fun facts and is, quite frankly, the dragon to go for gossip. While Kitath is not fond of speaking to humans not Hers (how rude!), she will not hesitate to chatter about aforementioned gossip to their dragons if they so posses them.
The smarts have a backlash - Kitath and her gossip means those around her are sure to be taken down a peg or two if they try to be over the top or too 'fake' for her likes. It doesn't take much facts to cut a person down, after all, not even slightly! This may mean Kitath and Hers will have a difficult time being liked for too long if her sharp tongue is perceived as honest dislike.
Like most misunderstood critters, Kitath has her soft spots: the smaller, the weaker, and the fluffier. She sees firelizards to be her own little 'children' and if there's a chance to get Hers a flit, Kitath will go out of her way to get it for Hers. Children, felines, canines, especially small dragons - and weyrlings. Itty eggs. If Semith were ever to wander from her eggs, Kitath would not mind taking over, not in the least. Eating is something of a challenge for the large green, something to approach with caution and extensive hesitation on the side of the dragon. It will be a situation she needs to remind herself that the beasts will be eaten and it may as well be from a dragon that cares.
Why me? Kitath looked for someone in need of direction, of a right hand (wo)man to get ahead in life. With his slight tendency to be distracted and be unobservant, Sh'lon fit her needs to a 'T'. Kitath will keep Sh'lon in line when they (read: she) puts their minds to something, herding him along the path that will get them where they want to be. She isn't above stopping and smelling the roses, of course, and Sh'lon will be the one to help remind her that life isn't just something to be stomped through.
Sh'lon wants friends, wants to be nice in order to GET those friends and Kitath is, er. Abrupt, for lack of better wording. She will hurt feelings if not kept in check when it comes to talking without thinking - Sh'lon runs the risk of being looked over or walked on for not speaking his mind when he thinks he's right. In that, her intelligence and exacting memory in all details everywhere will help the young man in gaining those friends! Theoretically. Who will notice if this person likes being hugged when they cry? Kitath. Who will gain friendship when told that and hugging aforementioned person? Sh'lon. Awwwright, ultimate friend wingman.
She finds his confidence and outgoing personality refreshing, something to be admired in the prison. His value placed on friendship is equally valued by the large green and for every bit of affection Sh'lon gives Kitath, he will receive in return, tenfold.
