Don't worry about not having read the books in a while - I've read exactly one, about firelizards, and I was around nine! Dragons and mini dragons and craziness are just all around fun roleplay. 
We all like discussing the world here, and since this is non-canon, there is plenty of discussion on this and that. Ask anything you need to ask and if lithle or myself don't know the answer, one of the other kiddlets in the sandbox might.
Felines a prisoner may typically have, a well behaved one, but if Verena is in for attempted murder and assault, along with having more than one personality, she would be considered violent. Any animals she had upon entering would be culled (if firelizard) or taken away (if feline, canine, etc), and she would not be allowed another. Violent criminals are all pretty much considered psychos until proven otherwise.
She looks great thus far! I can't waaaaait to read the rest of it, especially about her personalities.
