Are the dragons choices effect by the characters sexuality?
-No. The dragons impress because of compatibility and personality. Sexuality has no influence on the impression.
Can my deaf/blind/otherwise disabled character impress?
-Yes. However, not to traditional colors. And they won't be allowed to stand as candidates. They will, however, be eligible for a stands impression.
Can my OCD/bipolar/psychopathic character impress?
-Yes. Again, not to traditional colors. They might be found on the sands, though, provided their condition was not an obvious one.
If I have more than one candidate, is it possible for both of them to impress?
-Yes it is.
What age can my character be if I want them to impress?
-Anywhere between twelve and thirty-four. But there aren't many twelve-year-olds at Warden's.
How do you decide who impresses?
-There are a number of factors that help us decide who impresses. The number one consideration is personality. Our babies will have a strong idea of what they're looking for, and that will be the main deciding factor. However, if we've noticed that a certain player only shows up for hatchings and then disappears, we're unlikely to keep throwing dragons at them.
Furthermore, activity will be taken into account to some extent. If we've got three players that would all make a good fit for one of the hatchlings, we're likely to choose the one who we think will play them.
On some very, very, rare occasions, we might create a dragon for a player that we consider exemplary. If we see someone who we really want as a weyrling for the current clutch, but none of the pre-planned dragons suit them, we might decide to make them a dragon to suit their character.
Or we might decide not to. Mostly the latter.
How do we know the staff isn't just giving dragons to their friends?
-Well, it helps that we don't have any. Okay, that may not be exactly true. But, put simply, if we encouraged a friend to join, it'd likely be because we thought they'd do well as staff. And then they'd be staff, and they'd only be eligible for staff dragons.
Once again, characters will be matched with dragons according to personality. On those rare occasions that we decide to make an extra dragon for an exemplary player, they still won't be getting 'your' dragon. The clutch will be assigned as it always would have been, and an extra dragon will be made.
What's a staff dragon?
-The staff likes to play too! When we make candidates, either for plot purposes or because we just want to play a candidate, we promise they won't impress to any eggs we list as being on the sands. Ever. Instead, some extra, 'hidden' egg will hatch. That way, players will never hang their hopes on some particular egg only to find out it contains a staff hatchling.
What do I do if my dragon doesn't suit my character?
-We're sorry. We do our best. Some matches might not be what you're looking for. If the issue is with color, you're out of luck. That won't be changing. If it's with personality, you're welcome to have the dragons personality evolve into something more suitable over time (this doesn't mean playing the dragon entirely differently the next day). Or, if it's that big a deal, you're welcome to retire the character, and they won't count against your character allowance.
