There was a 'whomph', a panicked thundering of hooves and then a strangled cry. A long moment after that was filled with nothing, absolutely nothing. In the end it caused the Brownrider to turn round and look into the pen with narrowed eyes. In the midst of the herd which was still trying to climb over one another, stood a Brown, a beast still pinned beneath his talons and accusing eyes watching his rider.
"What?" Came the snipped tones of one very unamused Mordra. Solath snorted sharply and continued to stare until she rolled her eyes. "You know we don't have long before we have to go out on patrol again, stop messing about." She admonished him sharply, folding her arms over her chest. Solath continued to stare. "Fine! Well done, you have utterly squashed the life out of it!" She cheered, tones dripping with sarcasm. There was a rumble of amusement from the Brown as he finally dipped his head to pick up his kill. "That's your fourth, by the way. What happened to cutting back a little?" She asked smoothly, watching her dragon who had paused, teeth grazing the furred neck of his prize. Finally, he snorted, scooped up his meal and flew it to a quieter place to eat.
Mordra was unsure who had won that round, but she was sure her head was threatening to pound again. She needed to relax, not stand here while her dragon wound her up. He was trying to get her to laugh again, he always seemed to be doing that of late. Or he was just, watching her. It would have been creepy, if they hadn't been joined by thoughts and feelings. She knew why he stared, he worried. She buried the annoyance and shame of that as it threatened to rear its head. No time for that, there was work to do soon.
Fidgeting on her feet, she picked at he wooden fence of the pen and thought over her morning's work. Picked up one fleeing prisoner, had to help escort another for everyone else's safety and this afternoon she was scheduled to receive another group in and see them to detox. She hated going to detox, it was always so depressing. A necessary step for the prisoners, else the place would be in riots, but the screaming and the smell, it simply enhanced her hatred for Dust and reinforced the notion that at least here, people were paying for their stupidity. Hopefully she wouldn't be alone with the pick-up, she hated making multiple trips. Then it was a case of hanging around till all the doors were shut and everyone was secured. It worried her, putting Solath in harms way with them but it was part of the job. She also knew her worry was probably irrational, he towered over the inmates but that didn't mean they couldn't do damage. Curiously, Mordra didn't worry for her own safety, merely that of her dragon.
There was another 'whomph' of wings, and then a light shudder as Solath landed near her, turning his head to watch her curiously.
"Yes there's time to rest." She said before he could pin her with that look for too long. A rumble answered her and Solath stretched himself out exactly where he was. Mordra rubbed at her temples, waiting for her temper to calm before heading over and leaning against Solath's foreleg. She didn't say anything, she didn't have to, Solath knew she was irritated but continued to lay there. Mordra wouldn't sleep in the daytime and this way, he could nap and she could spend her time watching people.
