With the end of threadfall, the crafthalls have, for the most part, flourished. Admittedly, the more recent, AVIAS inspired crafts enjoyed only a brief boom of true innovation. They're still around, but they aren't pumping out new technology anymore.
An education in a craft is more likely than not for modern Pernese youths, and most children are sent away between the ages of 12 and 14 to begin their studies. There are exceptions, of course, but craft knowledge is considered the best way to get ahead and most parents send their children if they can. Even the Weyrborn are often sent off to crafthalls, as even dragonriders are well served to know such skills, now that they're not fighting thread.

Warden's Weyr is, in point of fact, not a true Weyr. As such, it doesn't search, nor does it attract the same wide range of people that a Weyr does. Instead, it accepts only people with skills that serve their unique purposes. It also has no use for children, or the untrained.
This means there are very few apprentices at Warden's Weyr. Apprentices are at crafthalls, training, or searched to Weyrs to stand. As Warden's doesn't search, it doesn't draw apprentices. The only reason an apprentice would be found at Warden's would be because said apprentice had left their craft and decided to become a guard instead. This isn't impossible, but it is a bit of an odd life choice.
This also means that certain crafters are more welcome than others. The following is a list of crafts that are actively sought and welcomed at Warden's.
Healercrafter, smithcraft, beastcraft, fishercraft, dolphineers, woodcraft, farmercraft.
The following, on the other hand, is a list of those crafts that Warden's does not seek, mostly because they import those items that they need.
Harpercraft, vintnercraft, glass-smithcraft, printercraft, weavercraft, tannercraft, minercraft.
While crafters of the above types might be found at Warden's they're likely to be generic 'guard' types, instead of actively practicing their craft. If you wish to app someone who is practicing one of the above crafts, we will expect excellent justification in your app.
Dragonriders, might, of course, have been trained in any number of crafts. But they're unlikely to feel they have the time to pay any attention to them.
