Summer in Southern scorched. Despite any grumblings his peers had in regards to cold being horrid on the joints, M'onk much preferred the cold to the sticky, wet heat that caused his tunic to cling to such uncomfortable places, such as elbows and lower back. Natai took to it easily enough but M'onk? He'd come out only when Mihkath, ever vigilant, chortled out something about the Opal, and babies.
Natai and M'onk arrived in time to see the shimmering hide sink away, an excuse of ''not feeling well" or being sick, something of the sort, and then no rider, no dragon that just clutched, nothing but a spot of beach far from Semith laid with a clutch.
A golden clutch.
An entire sharding clutch of gold, sparkling eggs.
M'onk gaped at them as if he were a puppet with loose strings. Behind him, the huge form of his dragon lumbered after. If dragons could laugh, Mihkath did: he released a huge huff of a wheeze to echo the noise, eyes swirling with his rather ill-timed amusement. Is this where I make a joke about the Opal that laid the golden egg?
"I don't think this is exactly the time, Mihkath. There are - wow. Well." M'onk cleared his throat and shook his shiny bald head. "Well. Well, well, well. Mihkath, who was the sire of this particular set?"
"Willoth." Natai frowned, leaning over to push a skin of water at her grandfather. "Willoth of Gwynell. He's gray."
One day you're going to remember he talks to me sometimes too. Mihkath squirmed anyway, excited over the prospect. Time to reunite clutchdaddy with eggs! The mother had withdrawn. Willoth! Your mate has clutched - come to the beach-sand place! Me and Mine and His await you!

The Flower Clutch
Violet Brush Egg
One of the smallest eggs in the clutch, the Violet Brush Egg has that same gold glitter as the rest of Iiateth's clutch. Under that sheen resides various splotches, as if a paintbrush had been flecked at it. The colors range from an aged bronze to a near neon yellow.
Infant's Kiss Egg
This egg is a pale pale butter yellow, just the slightest of sparkles to it. Medium sized of the clutch, this perfectly spherical egg has what looks to be hundreds of small dots in bunches all over the shell, decorative and lovely.
Watch Your Back Egg
Gigantic is the best way to describe this egg - massive. It is a misshapen egg, lopsided being a polite and gentle term for it. It does, in fact, look quite a bit like a large, open flower bud, complete with the ripples and the harshly bright gold shine to it. It is a solid color, no markings, though with that egg shape, who would need them?
Howling Moon Egg
Pressed close to the Tribal Beauty Egg, this little one is cratered just as the moon here near Earth is, in perfectly round dips and mounds on the aged gold shell.
Whirlwind Romance Egg
This egg sits small and still at the corner of the clutch, a quiet little thing with no real emotion coming from it. It's a pretty enough egg, starbursts blooming from the bottom of it's shell, a gold so pale it's nearly translucent, but still shiny.
River Blue Egg
Another small (and golden shining) egg, this one has a very narrow top and a large, rounded bottom. The designs on this egg resembles the ripples of water, and it feels rather... confused, though the dragon within the egg may not mind.
Holland's Pride Egg
Streaks, streaks everywhere, and not a - a - the rhyme fell apart somewhere in there. Yes, a small egg, but not as tiny as some of it's siblings. This egg stands proudly in the center of the clutch, taking no sides, and yes, it would like your attention.
Tribal Beauty Egg
Cuddled up to it's Howling Moon Egg sibling, this egg is a large and impressive egg, shell decorated with brilliant bright yellow streaks and nearly crimson whorls and twists in between those streaks. It is a bold egg, slightly in front of Howling Moon Egg as if to protect it.
Lurking Stare Egg
It sees you. Oh, Faranth, it sees you. This egg is large and in charge, a beaming ray of golden sunshine of the clutch, sparkling with as much force as one can imagine. The only marks on it are two pale streaks that look suspiciously like eyes... and looking riiight out into where the Candidates would be.
Jazz Hands Egg
Look at who is all funky-fresh! While it's as gold as the rest of the egg, the decorations of the Jazz Hands Egg are those of fireworks and... hearts. Yes. There are markings that look like hearts, the cutesy Valentines one, and they're almost black in their gold, er, ness.
Widow's Veil Egg
This egg is as close to it's siblings as it could possibly be wedged. Like the decorations on a few of it's clutchsibs, the egg is almost black with it's glittering overlay of gold. It has few markings, save for a few tear-dropped shaped splatters every so often in the color of a gold bar.
Water Vessel Egg
Another delicately small egg, it has that same golden sheen, but pale, nearly white in appearance. It's near boxy, the sides angling to something not quite round. There are dottings of a design on it, raindrops and ripple effects in place.
Taste of Fire Egg
Blazin' hot! This last egg, a monster among them, towers over the rest of it's sibling in such a fierce color that it is yellow bordering on orange. It is pale gold near to the top of it, otherwise unmarked, and it radiates power.
