Yes, at this moment in time, Ever was very afraid of happy things. She’d gotten used to things being somber because of the recent… events. But eggs weren’t supposed to know what was around them, were they? Eggs weren’t supposed to know that some of their number had been stolen away and they probably didn’t. The minds inside eggs probably weren’t old enough to make memories or remember. So in the end the barrage of mental questions from the egg perhaps had cleared her mind. The eggs didn’t mean to be so happy. Perhaps it was Ever who needed to change.
Ever gave the egg a wry smile. “It’s not your fault,” Ever said, pushing reassuring feelings to the egg. She had answered her own questioning. “It’s just everything that’s been happening lately.” And she was afraid of happy things because it just sounded wrong when placed against the happenings as of late. She’d probably confused this poor egg! Just to make sure it wasn’t confused by her thoughts, she stayed with her hand pressed to its strange shell.

For Amisi:
So much attention! The Violet Brush Egg isn't quite sure how to make of it all, but Amisi and her attention isn't being turned away. The dragon inside the shell projects warmth, a sort of humility, a reassurance that things will be alright. Amisi needn't fret! The Violet Brush Egg will see to it.

Another silly grin perched on Amisi's mouth, much as Stripe perched on her head. Of course things would be alright, little one. How could they not be? It was an egg that would going to hatch, of course things would be good for it, and for whoever Impressed it. That was no question, the question was who would Impress it. The little egg made her think of Pappi - she knew that for all his being a bronzerider he was nothing like a fair majority of the bronzeriders, wanting to be thought of as awesome and wonderful just because they had a massive of bronze dragon.
The egg and Pappi were like that, both always warm and humble, telling her things will be alright. She trusted the little egg, cause she trusted Pappi, and he'd never been wrong, so the egg wasn't wrong. She stayed with it longer, connecting the dots across its surface before moving on again.
It reminded her of the first egg she touched, the red-yellow-gold of it, though in a different pattern and somewhat bigger. Amisi traced the flame pattern across Taste of Fire, wondering just what this fellow would tell her, loosening Spots' hold around her neck with her free hand.

Senar jolted upright at the feeling of command in the egg's response. The urge to obey authority figures was always there, and the egg's tone tapped right into it. He felt that the dragon in the egg, no matter the color it may be, would be a natural-born leader. He turned away from it and approached the Misty Garden egg. What was that one like, he wondered.

For Ever:
Yawn. One thing that the Nightmare Images Egg apparently doesn't need is reassurance or concern. That keeps coming at it from every direction and it's so very boring. It pushes against Ever's mind, clearly having lost interest in her. Though, should she decide to be odd again, she's welcome to come back.
For Senar:
Near silence. Only the faintest sense of a dragon's mind, distant and retreating. The Misty Garden Egg is either not the most social, or it's easily tired out. Either way, Senar only gets a sense of a drowsy, fading mind before the egg goes completely silent.

My! This egg wasn't happy at all! 'That's probably why I chose it in the first place,' Ever thought as her hand slid away from the egg. It was funny, then, that she sort of longed for a happier egg than the nonchalant Nightmare Images egg. Such a fickle mind her mind was! She giggled as she moved away, careful not to get too close to the few other candidates touching the eggs. It should have been a lighthearted time, touching eggs, but somehow Ever realized that now was not a good time to joke and play.
Her eyes focused on the Violet Brush Egg, the egg that another candidate had just left. Now Ever didn't know what to think. She'd thought happy reassuring thoughts to the other happy eggs, had been turned around by the Nightmare Images egg, and found herself to be slightly off about how to feel toward this egg. Instead, Ever chose to be silent in mind and in body. As she touched the egg she kept her mind in a careful neutral stance and made sure her fingers were light to the touch as to not disturb this eggs thoughts very much.

For Amisi:
It's interesting that Amisi would be thinking of those protective sorts while she touched the Taste of Fire egg. Isn't she too young to be out and about, being all - adultish? Dragons are for adults, little girl! While the Taste of Fire egg acts politely about it, it mentally shoos Amisi from its shell with a no-nonsense attitude. One must act adult to be adult!
For Ever:
Neutrality is good! Violet Brush Egg approves wholeheartedly of Ever and her attempt to bend to authority, to the rule of those of higher position to her. They know the best, don't they? This little egg is a calm, peaceful presence, and, somehow, has a delicate air about it.

This egg wasn't happy like the others, either. It took a long, low second for her to realize that, while the egg wasn't happy like the others, it also had a particular view on the world that Ever felt rush through her veins. The neutrality she'd used worked and she could feel the egg's real intentions. This egg was telling her to bend to authority or was it telling her that bending to authority was good? She couldn't understand but didn't really want to. The egg's presence was... gentle and calm and she didn't want to risk upsetting it with her views.
Instead, she moved on to an egg that the little Amisi was standing at. Okay, perhaps not little, but younger than Ever by more than she hoped to say. She nodded appreciatively at the girl, "Hello, Amisi." She'd seen Amisi around. She'd seen everyone around, of course. She doubted that they'd met in person but Ever didn't need to meet people to learn their names. "Enjoying the Touching?"
But her mind was carefully neutral as she touched the egg Amisi was touching. The Taste of Fire Egg was the object of her touching. Like the previous egg, her mind was careful not to wander into other thoughts and her touch was gentle. She wanted none of her mind's wanderings to interfere with her experience with the egg.

For Ever:
Unlike it's clutchsibling, Taste of Fire did not bend to authority - no, Taste of Fire Egg created the authority. It's presence is a dominating one, large and bold without trying to be rough, but Ever was not a young girl late for naptime. Ever was a young woman trying to trick the eggs. Naughty! The egg does not approve, it's mind moving against hers with the brisk movements of the tried and true, before the dragonet shoo'd her away much as it had Amisi. Scoot along now, girlie. No more flip-flopping for you!

Senar barely felt the presence of the dragonet inside the egg. Naturally, he started worrying about it. Was it sick? Would the egg even hatch? He gave the egg a soft pat that he hoped was comforting, before stepping away from it. Now that egg, over there, was big. That was a really big egg. Senar walked over to the Elegant Lattice egg and just stared at it for a moment. He wouldn't be surprised if it held a bronze, or even a gold if the egg had been the right color. He gently felt along the lattice pattern as he tried to guess what the dragonet would be like.

Amisi bristled at the tone of the egg her hands now touched. One must act adult to be adult?! Then what was she doing? Acting like a child to be a child? She was here, she was doing adult things. She was acting like an adult, you sharding egg! The thirteen Turn old bit her lip to restrain herself from smacking the egg - such behavior certainly wasn't adult, but ooooh, it just made her so mad, telling her to run on home, but then telling her to act adult.... what was she doing, really?
Grumbling under her breath and keeping a tighter leash on her firelizards than on herself as she walked towards the other eggs strewn across the Sands.
