Pathetic?! She was not pathetic for having standards she would not stoop below! It took every ounce of Ragniel’s will to not smash her hand through the egg’s shell, and she stepped away from it before she gave into the urge. She hadn’t yet noticed the hint at something deeper, but perhaps, after she’d had the chance to calm down and think over the reactions of the ones she’d touched, she would realize that it was there.
It wouldn’t get rid of the fact that she now hated the egg, but at least she wouldn’t hope it would between out of spite.
She took several deep breaths to calm down a bit. She could handle something hating her, was used to it (after all, not everyone understood the value of her work), but being called pathetic was not something she would ever react calmly to.
So why she went to touch Hero’s Call when her track record for eggs was terrible will probably be forever beyond those not privy to her twisty little mind.
But Iris was there, touching the egg. She would wait to see how she reacted to it before touching it. But for the time being, she went over to Jazz Hands and placed a hand against it.

For Iris:
The first thing the Hero's Call Egg touched in Iris's mind was not her crimes or cruelty, but her concern for the Widow's Veil egg. And so the first sensation she was greeted with was a wash of warm approval, touched with concern for that fragile creature. And then, as it moved through her mind, the hate bubbled up, fast and fierce and overwhelming any brief sense of warm feeling.

Iris arched an eyebrow at the reaction of the egg, the sudden shifting of softness to hate. Then?
She laughed at it.
Didn't that egg realize how fragile it's life is? If it reacted to everyone in such a manner, it would be crushed before it even hatched. If it wasn't killed the second it attacked an outlaw once it hatched.
Hate wasn't something Iris was unused to. When was the last time something had loved her? Not since her son was ripped from her arms. Her fingers twitched against the shell, before she pulled away. "Hatred is cute."
Oh, Iris, like you can talk. Hypocrite.
The woman decided now would be a good time to touch Golden Starburst. Blue eyes fell across the golden shell, taking it in before she crouched to stroke the shell.
Hello, little egg. What do you think of the assassin?

For Iris:
What was this? The Golden Starburst Egg met the mind touching it with unveiled confusion. At first, that confusion seemed likely to turn to interest as it sifted through her mind. But it quickly settled into boredom. Silly little human formed by silly little tragedies. How banal. Sigh. Don't expect Golden Starburst to pity you, Iris. It has better things to do. Like... being an egg, apparently.

Huh. An egg that didn't immediately take a dislike to him. Maybe Yekemi would stick around some more. He could more thoroughly secure his living space later, after he grew bored of eggs and dragons. Now the Watch Your Back egg was huge. Yekemi thought he should track down whoever stole it and get some influence over them, because whoever carried it to the caves had to be quite strong.
However, such a large egg was more likely than small ones to have been damaged on the trip over, Yekemi walked over to it and lightly rapped the shell. "Are you alive in there?" he asked it.

For Yekemi:
While the Watch Your Back Egg certainly appreciates the fact Yekemi is all for throwing his bulk around, it shoves it's own considerable anger back at the man. Rage! Violence hidden in the shell! Everything it has and more is thrust at Yekemi and his mind because it struck its egg.

For Ragniel:
Jazz Hands Egg seems to get a bit huffy with that sort of sad negativity. It pushes good cheer and other sorts of chipper things her way; no worries about it's clutchsib! The little egglet doesn't think Ragniel is a failure and, after all, isn't that all that matters? Jazz Hands seems to think so, and radiates that confidence right back at Ragniel.

Yeah, that was it. Yekemi decided to go back to his section of the caves and busy himself with something useful. Dragonets were apparently just not for him. The beasts were too touchy, anyway. Why get mad over someone rapping on your shell?
"I would be careful when they hatch. These are temperamental bastards, so I'd come armed if I were you," Yekemi said over his shoulder to Ragniel and Iris as he left the hot springs cavern."
