Druen
Name: Druen
Age: 27 turns
Gender: Male
Prisoner: No
Crime: N/A
Craft/Rank: Journeyman Beastcrafter/Wher Candidate.
Appearance: Druen is everything you would expect from someone who spends his days lifting buckets of water, herding animals and spending most of his time outdoors. While not particularly tall, Druen is muscled and tanned. His strong arms and legs look almost a little too big for him but with his height this is barely noticeable. He has light, sandy brown hair which is cut short and falls neatly about his head. His features are somewhat weathered and his hands roughened from his work but the rest of him is rather gentle.
Druen doesn’t own one fancy piece of clothing and that suits the man just fine, he has little time for fun and games. Being one of few Beastcrafters at Wardens he is often too busy to stop. Seeing as his main role tends to fall into the background, he rarely see’s anyone important anyway. Engaging chocolate brown eyes peer out from his rather chiseled features. Everything about this man’s appearance seems to scream work.
Working with animals can often bring bruises and more, Druen's no exception. His right arm has a rather ugly scar on his upper bicep, that should have taught him never to pick up a wherry, no matter how small, and yet he still does it with the babies from time to time. He is also sporting a rather odd looking left ear, a bite from one of the Guards canines that he should have been more careful with. It's a lesson he's only needed teaching once though and he intends to keep it that way.
Personality: All work and no play, do not actually make Druen a dull boy. He loves to laugh and joke, he just has little opportunity to. Not one for large crowds, he would rather sit in a more intimate setting, swapping stories and jokes with a few close friends rather than being out at a large gather. Druen is fairly easy going, though he takes his job seriously. When he is working, he is perhaps a little too safety conscious but he has yet to have any major accidents on his watch and he likes it that way.
Skilled in his work, he has a particular flare for raising the young when their mothers cannot. He can often be seen with a small fluffy companion in tow, though other than that he has no real attachments currently.
Druen likes the fact that he is neither prisoner nor Guard. It's not the most peaceful setting, but it puts him in a unique middleground. He practices his craft, but feeds everyone, human or creature alike. Everyone needs a good meal, the Guards need healthy working canines and even prisoners sometimes need help with their pets. His healing skills only stretch to companions, livestock and pets, but sometimes prisoners trust that a bit more than someone who works entirely for the 'other side' as he's heard it put like the Healers and Dragonhealers do. It also means that despite his odd hours, Druen can keep up with a fair amount of gossip and he'll chat to just about anyone.
History: Druen was born up near Ista Weyr, his parents a part of a happily working Hold. He had three brothers, all younger than him, Elis, Jamit and Wern respectively. All of them helped out around the Hold and generally it was a pretty easy going existence.
This would have continued, but Druen was keen to take up study at the nearby Beastcraft Hall. He went to speak with them and after much discussion, he was taken on as an apprentice. His work kept him busy, and by the age of eighteen turns, he was ready to move up to Journeyman status. He was excited and eagerly shared this news with his parents. He had been away from home so long, and so cut off, he was sure they’d be pleased to hear of his progress. The world had changed around Druen so much though, the Dragon Watch was up to their eyeballs in Dust users and miscreants, the lands were riddled with problems.
There was no reply to his letter, and so confused he wrote another. Then another, and another. He continually got no response until he decided to go and visit. Upon arrival, he was shocked to find much of his former home destroyed. A raid had happened several months previously by the Dragon Watch, a Dust ring uncovered within his Hold home. There was no sign of his family, no one left even knew where they'd gone. He was chilled to learn that a childhood friend or two of his had been carted off as dealers or users of Dust. He'd been so devoted to study he'd steered clear of the stuff.
Numb, Druen went back to his Hall and threw himself into study once more. This continued through until his twenty fifth turn, though the appeal of Dust steadily grew as his pain at his lost family continued. Were they alive? Had they been taken by the Dragon Watch, convicted users or dealers? Why had no one sought him out? There was news finally, of a newly constructed prison of all things looking for aid. Druen had been running from his family and his memories but the familiar places kept haunting him and his cheerful nature had long been lost. He worried that he may cave to the pressure and appeal of Dust if he didn't move his life on soon, Wardens, a place where the conviced got themselves clean seemed a good idea. He immediately requested to go there and help, he didn’t care about much besides leaving the familiar places and painful memories behind.
Now, two turns on, Druen works at Wardens. He has settled, and regained much of his former cheerfulness. He enjoys the fact that he is rarely ever off-duty, finding it easier to deal with his thoughts if he keeps busy. Still, he is far happier now and is making a good go of things. The future is starting to look a little brighter, though he has swiftly realised that while Wardens is a prison, even here people are trying to find ways to sneak Dust back in. It seems he'll never be free of that menace, but hopefully he can keep himself on the straight and narrow.

Drusk - Wher
Name Drusk
Color Blue
Sin Sloth
Hex Code 003982
Desc: This young Wher is one of the darker of Zalmask's blues, with a color Ira would surely call boring. The dark blue covers him evenly, with lighter wing membranes and underbelly, though there is a pocket of darker blue directly under his chin that he is oddly proud of. Drusk features an average build, with a bit of extra pudge that will only develop further if Druen doesn't force him to exercise.
Personality
Many would be surprised that the hard working, cheerful Druen got this wher. Drusk makes eeyore look like the happiest character in existance with his constant sadness and insecurity. He needs constant reassurance from Druen, and he accepts it all sheepishly... often shuffling his paws on the ground and meekly agreeing with his handler. Once reassured he's alright for a while, and when in large groups of his friends he seems to completely forget his sadness in the mere joy of being around people. He likes people! He's one of the more social whers, despite his belief that no one would want to be friends with him.
He's a lazy brat. Of course, he'll work for Druen... if Druen says pretty please. Drusk is a talented and intelligent wher, completing tasks quickly and efficiently when he can be prodded into working by his hardworking handler. Then he mutters about not doing it well and meanders off to sleep. Like Gula, only one thing gets his bulk moving and his rage to the forefront. Like a mama bear, Sloth loves his family. Mess with them, and he'll turn from adorable and evil. The worst part is he has a better memory then most- so unlike Gula, he'll remember exactly what you did to wrong his family.
He clings to Druen as if the man is his life support. He needs Druen's cheerful nature, his nurturing ways and hardworking ethics to balance out his own- and Druen is the only one with a chance of making his slothful little blue shape up. With enough time spent with Drusk, Druen will be able to rip him out of his depression and teach him to be the best Wher he can be- but the littlest scolding from Druen will have Drusk sulking. He desires above all else to make his handler proud- at any cost.
Why Me? Patience, Patience. Druen has it in spades, and that's was Drusk needs. He needs someone patient and happy to draw him from his sadness and anger, and Druen is not only that, but a nurturing man as well. The hardworking beastcrafter will eventually be able to pull out Drusk's potential... but he'll have to work for it.
